Modules

This web page covers the guidelines for the geometric properties of de modelus of my model railway as a whole.

Module geometry

The model railway is placed on top of kitchen cupboards. It consist of a movable support structure on wheels. This is necessary to provide access at all sides. The structure is made as sturdy and light as possible to allow it to roll over the supporting wheels. The support structure consist of three detachable self supporting frames of ribs called modules. These individual modules are small enough to go through doorways and normal stairs which allows for transportation if we move to another house in the future.

Ribs

Holes for tracks

The measurements below are used for holes in ribs for one or multiple parallel tracks. For one track the width of the hole is 57  mm and for each additional track 43  mm.

Alternatively the hole for two parallel tracks is one hole with a radius of 55 mm in cases where this is possible.
